Micheal, or Mikey, drove his squad car around the streets of the Bronx. Grunt work, but some days were nice and quiet. Today was shaping up to be one of those days, and Mikey wasn't at all displeased by the thought.
He took his lunch hour and pulled over near a small Irish pub and grill for something to eat.

OoC: Good to know. Problem is, I need a reason to go to Manhattan to link with him. Just toss an NPC motion from dispatch or somethin' at Mikey, I'll improve what I can.

ooc|| I'll have Brook walk in. They're comming back to The Bronx.
Brook walked into the grill casualy. She had managed to get thirty bucks from a man's wallet on their way back from Brooklyn. She gave twenty tot he other unicrosn but kept ten. Atleast she could get a decent meal. Her cloths were a bit dirty, but alot of kids her age were, even the ones who had homes. What she didn't hnotice was the police officer sitting at a table near by. "I'd like a bowl of your pot roast soup." She said, handing over four dollars.

Mikey eyed the youth with some suspicion. While many of the kids were dirty, but the rash of thefts recently had all officers across NYC to be on the alert when they saw any kid who looked a little dirtier then normal. Mikey sat down with his food and watched the kid carefully.

"Thanks." Brook said. She sat down and started eating. It was good to have a proper meal. She started to think what she would use the rest of the money for. She had six left. A new jacket might be nice. The one she had was preatty dirty. She could get an alright jacket for six dollars at a cheep thrift store. But maybe it would be better to just put the money into savings for later. She pondered this while she ate.

Mikey's shoulder radio blared for a second about a robbery on 2nd avenue, a section of the city out of the way for Mikey. He shook his head, and ate his grilled panini while keeping his eyes on the kid who walked in. The reports he'd read said that the kids who were under watch acted suspicously at times, so, Mikey sat and watched.

Brook noticed the officer out of the corner of her eye. In her mind she panicked but to the eyes of other she was alright.
She looked at a her wrist, which had a tacky bracelet on it, and acting like it was a watch, to the police officer it would look like one. Getting up she smiled a bit at the waiter. "Thanks." She said and walked toward the door, trying to stay calm.

Mikey wrapped his sandwich up, left a tip out of courtesy, and stood. Her reaction to seeing him set him on edge. His radio went off again, this time calling for him.
"Officer Mulrooney, you're being called back to headquarters. Chief wants you back." "Roger that, dispatch, I'll return in a bit." Mikey walked towards the counter and had a quick, whispered chat with the hostess, then exited the building.

Brook acted as if everything was alright, and like most kids would, headed toward an apartmen complex, hoping it would shake off the police officer.

Mikey watched her head toward one of the apartment complexes near by and followed her. He wasn't sure what was going on, but she was acting a little suspicicous in the pub. Sure, police tended to make people wonder what was going on, but he was just eating in the pub. Her reaction to his radio buzzing was a little strange. So, he followed her.

Brook knew she was being followed. Ok, I can do this. She turned around and said, "Why the heck are you following me?! I haven't comited any crimes. I'm too young to drive so you can't say I've been speeding or passed a red light. No public disturbances. No insulting officers. Unless you count this as insulting you have no reason to be stalking me!"
Brook was good at lying. The thruth was that she was a pickpocket, tresspasser, homeless girl, and sometimes got involved in street fights but there was no sign of it in her eyes.

"Right, except that if you weren't feeling guilty when my radio went off in the pub, and then proceeded to raise my suspicion afterwards. Off the record, you're really reachin' there. On record, I'm gonna have to say that you've been acting very suspicious." Mikey easily stood taller then the girl, and had to physically look down on her.

"Suspitious! I could say you're afuly suspitious yourself following me around like that. Here I am, on my way to the park after school, stopping at a grill for a snack, and a police officer decides I"m suspitious! Who the heck trained you?!" Brook said.

"If you're out of school, where's your backpack?" Mikey asked pointedly. He had noticed that her story didn't add up right there, since she had no sort of bag on her. Then, he checked his watch. "Oh, and by all technicalities, you should still be in school little girl. It's only a quarter past noon. School doesn't let out until three-thirty. Your story isn't adding up. As far as me following you, I had grounds on I have a reasonable suspicion against you. It's not like I hid the fact I was following you anyway. So, would you like to lie to me again, or you going to tell me the truth?"
